Evaluations

Justification of content •Once a pre-production document has been produced the content needs to be analysed and checked to ensure that it is adequate for the purpose it was designed for.  Does the content meet the needs of the client?  If it does not, then the production phase cannot start.  The content can be reviewed in discussion with the client and target audience focus groups. Evaluation of Suitability for Purpose •The pre-production documents are used to provide the various personnel involved in project with the information that they will require to produce the project.  It is with this purpose in mind that these documents need to be evaluated.  Do they provide enough information for the members of the production team to produce the product in line with the proposal?  The documents can be shown to the lead members of each team to check that they are clear about what is required during their phase of the production. Site Structure Diagram / Sitemap

Image
During the production of an interactive media product the layout of how the screen and pages fit together needs to be designed.     A structure of the hierarchy of how each of these relate to each other is set out in a diagram that looks like a tree root system, with the home screen/page being the trunk and all the other screens/pages coming off this.

Set Design

This is the creation of documents that set out how a scene for a TV or film location is set up.     These can either be created in 2D so that the layout is seen, or 3D so that so that the view of the scene as it will be seen during can be understood.     These are used to show the filming team how the scene looks so that the camera angles and movement can be planned.     They also allow the production team to see what has to be built for the production.

Page Mock Up

These are similar to flat plan and wireframes; however they contain more details such as the content and colour schemes included.     They can be shown to clients and audiences to gain feedback before the final version is created.     New software developments allow the creation of page mock-ups for interactive media products and websites that include interactive elements to be modelled.     These mock-ups are now blending into prototypes in terms of their features.

Prototype

The prototype is an early model of a media product, especially important in the development of interactive products where the production of the final version will take time and resources.     Creating a prototype allows testing of the early concept to be carried out to ensure that the final product will meet its needs.     The prototype will not look like the final product, as the final aesthetics will not be included; however the core elements will be working and tested.

Flat Plan / Wireframe

Image
A flat plan (or wireframe) is a 2D representation of how all articles and adverts are laid out on a page or how the elements of the page (or screen in an interactive product) fit together.     This allows the designer to see if proportions are correct and all elements are included.     The detail for each aspect is not included; this is purely a layout tool, where changes can be quickly and easily carried out prior to production.     A flat plan can also be used to view the layout of a set for TV production to check those elements fit together and that camera placement and movements can be achieved as required.

Visualisation Diagram

Image
A visualisation diagram is a rough diagram of a plan for a product, normally a static one such as the layout of a page or a diagram within an animation.   These are used to check that what is being produced will work and that the objectives of the product are being met.

Concept Art

Image
This is used to convey an idea during the planning stage in a media production.     Examples of this are the illustration of fantasy characters for     a computer game or of a concept car during the production of a 3D digital model of a new product.     These allow decisions to be made having seen a representation of the character or scene.

Scripts and Shooting Scripts

Image
Scripts: The script is the document that is given to the members of production team, telling them what movements will take place and the actions that actors will carry out, together with their dialogue and expressions to be used.  The main parts of a script are the actions and dialogue required.  The action is written in the present tense while the dialogue is written as a character would deliver it.  Scripts also include slug lines (scene headings) that state three important pieces of information: • Whether the scene is an interior or exterior scene • The location where the scene is shot • The time of the scene, when it takes place. Shooting Scripts: A shooting script is the development of a script, specifically for use during the production of a television product or film.  This includes scene numbers, camera angles, shot types and soundtrack information, as well as the contents of a script, such as dialogue.

Risk Assessment

Image
A risk assessment (or recce, pronounced ‘recky’) is the pre-production visit to a location before filming or recording can begin.  During the visit any issues concerned with camera angles, lighting and acoustic details can be checked out.  Any health and safety considerations can also be look at so that they can be considered when looking at the viability of a location.  Photographs may be taken to be used in the planning of the shoot so that the time can be saved during the actual shoot. The recce will also look at the accessibility of the location, allowing the planning of the logistics to begin.   Tide pods - baby could swallow it and become ill Fire - could get burned  Iron - baby could get burned and potentially fatal blunt force Jigsaw pieces - baby could choke on them Sharp table corner - baby could bump into it Balloon - baby could wrap the string and choke itself TV - would fall on baby

Asset Log

Image
•An asset log is important because… It allows the producers to ensure all assets have been paid for. It makes finding, accessing or updating relevant legal documents easy, and     allows for them to be provided if needed (e.g. due to a legal challenge or a financial     audit). At the end of the production, it enables producers to check that all assets are accounted for and returned (if relevant). •An asset log should… Include specific details of each asset, to identify it clearly. Include the location of the relevant legal or financial documents relating to the                         use of that document Cover all hired or licensed assets used in the production

Proposals, project outlines and treatment documents

Image
Treatment Definition :  A  film treatment  is a summary of a film or television show. It should communicate all of the essential scenes, themes, and tone of the project to entice or pitch to buyers and producers into reading, developing, or even purchasing your idea. Film treatments are also referred to as story treatments, script treatments, and movie treatments. Video games - A game treatment is a written summary of a game concept that included concept sketches of the game world and characters. In the gaming industry, game treatments are used to get feedback on game concepts, as well as pitch game concepts to get approval and funding to create them.  Film - The treatment of a film must create a clear and concise idea which will grab the attention of producers, directors and commissioners which will hopefully encourage them to invest into working on the project. It will in...

LO3 Questions

1: 1. Surveys 0 *interviewing other app developers 2. Questionnaires for seeing what features people want 1 3. analysis of other fashion apps 1 2/3 2: 1. One secondary source could be magazines. This would allow for Stephen to find suitable celebrities to model for MyDesign fashion wear. It's suitable because there will be a lot of celebrities in magazines ready for more recognition and jobs. Plus, there may be more diverse celebrities which brings the app more popularity as it covers more ethnicities, genders and sizes of people. 3 2. Another secondary source could be social media. Finding models on social media and potentially other agencies and brands that have posted their models either wanting work or to show off designs, then being able to contact them. It is suitable because there are a wide variety of people wanting work and that have already modelled for other brands in the past; making it easy to find diverse models for the MyDesign app. 3 6/6

Research

Audience Research: - Information about the proposed target audience is collected and analysed -  ensure that the product targets the correct audience in the correct way -  Research is carried out into the target audience’s awareness of the media product’s sector and its benefits, together with their willingness to purchase the product -  carried out using primary sources with target groups being directly asked about their views Market Research: -  research into its sector of the market is an important part of the planning -  Are there any other products that are similar? -  How successful are they? -  What features do they have?   - Who are they aimed at specifically?   - How much revenue do they raise?   - How much revenue can be projected from the new product? -  a more targeted approach can be used to develop the media product Production Research: -  Collect source material that can be used in the media produc...

Project Management Software

Spreadsheet  -  a computer program that can capture, display and manipulate data arranged in rows and columns Gantt  chart -  a project management tool that illustrates work completed over a period of time in relation to the time planned for the work Task Allocation - breaks the project down into tasks to allocate to specific people on the project Scheduling - once tasks have been created, the whole project can be scheduled with specific timeframes being given to tasks. Can be put together to create overall project by deadline Milestones - checkpoints built into tasks so that the media production allows tracking of performance against deadline

Pre-Production Forms

Once the overall project has been planned then the daily planning needs to take place, including details which will allow for the smooth running of the production.     A media production, no matter its size will have a number of personnel working in it. • Call Sheet  – sometimes called a daily planner, this document is used to ensure that on each day everyone involved in the production process knows what is happening and what their role is, ensuring that the production is successful.  Listed on this document will be the personnel needed, the resources required, the location they are needed at and when.  By using a daily planner or call sheet there is little room for people to be confused and for aspects of the production to go wrong.
